Route: Hermosillo to Guaymas/San Carlos
Date: December 2, 2008
Logged By: Mike and Terri Church
Vehicle: Pickup with Camper towing a Jeep Wrangler (40 Ft. Total Length)
Today’s route follows Mex 15 south from its intersection with Mex 14 which is 5 miles (8 km) north of Hermosillo. The route follows the southeastern bypass around Hermosillo and connects with Mex 15 south of the town. It then follows Mex 15 south to the intersection of the toll bypass road around Guaymas and the Guaymas/San Carlos free road. At this intersection we take the free road exit and end the log. Guaymas is straight ahead in about 4 miles (7 km) and San Carlos is to the right in about 5 miles (8 km). Both towns have campgrounds.
Much of the southeastern Hermosillo bypass has been resurfaced in recent years and it is now a mostly smooth 4-lane road. Mex 15 south of Hermosillo to the Guaymas intersection is 4-lane in good condition although the highway in this section has little or nothing in the say of shoulders.
