Note: This log runs from San Blas to Peñita de Jaltemba which is at the beginning of a string of nice little beachfront towns with quite a few campgrounds to the north of Puerto Vallarta. This route and the previous one detail the entire back road near-sea level route that bypasses Tepic.

000.0 Miles (000.0 Km) – At a T at San Blas and we turn left signed for Tepic and Puerto Vallarta. Two topes. This is the ending point of the prior day’s log.

000.1 Miles (000.2 Km) – Cross bridge.

000.3 Miles (000.5 Km) – Km 35 marker.

001.3 Miles (002.1 Km) – Right turn signed for Pto. Vallarta. We turn right.

001.9 Miles (003.1 Km) – Km 1 marker.

002.7 Miles (004.4 Km) – Enter village of Matanchén.

002.9 Miles (004.7 Km) – Turn left just before the Corona distributor.

004.3 Miles (006.9 Km) – Crocadilario crocodile attraction to the left 2 km. We continue straight.

008.4 Miles (013.5 Km) – Enter village of Aticama.

009.1 Miles (014.7 Km) – Out of town.

010.2 Miles (016.5 Km) – Km 15 marker.

012.7 Miles (020.5 Km) – Pto Vallarata and Tepic signed to the left and Santa Cruz to the right – we go left.

013.1 Miles (021.1 Km) – Pto Vallarta signed to the right and Tepic straight – we go right.

013.7 Miles (022.1 Km) – Enter village of El Llano.

013.8 Miles (022.3 Km) – Km 42 marker.

014.1 Miles (022.7 Km) – Out of El Llano.

028.8 Miles (046.5 Km) – Enter village of Ixtapan de la Concepción.

029.2 Miles (047.1 Km) – Km 16 marker.

029.2 Miles (047.1 Km) – Road to the left is to Las Varas and to the right back into Ixtapan – we go to the left and we are out of Ixtapan.

031.2 Miles (050.3 Km) – Enter village of San Isidro.

031.6 Miles (051.0 Km) – Out of San Isidro.

033.0 Miles (053.2 Km) – Enter town of Zacualpan.

033.3 Miles (053.7 Km) – At the end of the square go right.

033.6 Miles (054.2 Km) – Pemex #2399 on the left with magna, premium and diesel.

033.7 Miles (054.4 Km) – Under the arch entrance to town – but still not really out of town.

034.3 Miles (055.3 Km) – Out of Zacualpan.

035.0 Miles (056.5 Km) – Km 6 marker.

038.4 Miles (061.9 Km) – Enter town of Las Varas.

038.5 Miles (062.1 Km) – The road becomes divided with a row of trees down the middle.

038.7 Miles (062.4 Km) – At intersection with Mex 200. Left is Tepic and right is Puerto Vallarta – we go right.

038.8 Miles (062.6 Km) – Pemex #2384 on the right with magna, premium and diesel.

039.1 Miles (063.1 Km) – Km 73 marker.

040.1 Miles (064.7 Km) – Turn off right is for Chacala Playa.

048.1 Miles (077.6 Km) – Km 88 marker.

049.3 Miles (079.5 Km) – Road becomes 4 lanes.

049.4 Miles (079.7 Km) – Km 90 marker. Pemex #3547 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel (just after Km 90). Big station with good maneuvering room.

049.8 Miles (080.3 Km) – Enter Peñita de Jaltemba suburbs.

050.0 Miles (080.6 Km) – Km 91 marker.

050.9 Miles (082.1 Km) – Peñita de Jaltemba centro turnoff to right.
