Note: This road runs from Ciudad Victoria to the Puente Internacional Libre Comercio border crossing just south of Harlingen. This is an quiet crossing, a good choice for RVers.

000.0 Miles (000.0 Km) -- At the intersection of Ciudad Victoria's outer ring road and Mex 101 which leads north to Matamoros and Brownsville.

000.3 Miles (000.5 Km) -- Km 5 marker.

000.4 Miles (000.6 Km) -- Pemex #5668 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. It has good access for big rigs.

002.4 Miles (003.9 Km) -- Road narrows to two lanes but it's an excellent high-speed road with very wide shoulders and light traffic. For the next xx miles this road is partly wide two-lane and partly four lane giving lots of opportunities to pass.

011.9 Miles (019.2 Km) -- Pass through the town of Guemez, lots of room.

021.3 Miles (034.4 Km) -- Cutoff to the right to Presa V. Guerrero. Also the Km 35 marker.

027.8 Miles (044.8 Km) -- Pass through the town of Nuevo Padilla, lots of room.

028.3 Miles (045.6 Km) -- Pemex # 3166 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. It has good access for big rigs.

028.6 Miles (046.1 Km) -- Another road right to Presa V. Guerrero.

039.6 Miles (063.9 Km) -- Another road right to Presa V. Guerrero.

049.2 Miles (079.4 Km) -- Another road right to Presa V. Guerrero.

058.3 Miles (094.0 Km) -- Road splits, Santander Jiménez to the right and Reynosa to the left. We take the left fork. This is a bypass of Jiménez.

058.7 Miles (094.7 Km) -- Road in to Jiménez rejoins us from the right. This is the end of the bypass.

079.3 Miles (127.9 Km) -- Cutoff right to Tampico. This is the intersection that is the starting point for the next log leading to La Pesca.

079.5 Miles (128.2 Km) -- Pemex #4965 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. It has great access for big rigs and also the largest paved and fenced truck parking area we have seen at any Pemex in the country. The lot is entirely empty.

090.4 Miles (145.8 Km) -- Through the town of Las Norias, lots of room.

102.7 Miles (165.6 Km) -- Road splits, left is San Fernando, right Reynosa. We go right. This is the beginning of a bypass around San Fernando.

111.5 Miles (179.8 Km) -- Big interchange with an exit for San Fernando. We don't take it.

119.1 Miles (192.1 Km) -- The road from San Fernando merges from the left. This is the end of the San Fernando bypass.

123.1 Miles (198.5 Km) -- Road to Francisco Villa goes off to the right. This is the beginning of a bypass of Francisco Villa.

127.4 Miles (205.5 Km) -- Road from Francisco Villa rejoins us from the right. This is the end of the Francisco Villa bypass.

128.7 Miles (207.6 Km) -- Pemex #3913 on the left with magna and diesel. It is large, has good access, a restaurant, and truck parking.

128.9 Miles (207.9 Km) -- Road splits. Reynosa to the left, Matamoros to the right. We go right toward Matamoros.

141.8 Miles (228.6 Km) -- Road splits. Right to Matamoros, left to San German. This is the beginning of a bypass of San German.

144.2 Miles (232.6 Km) -- Road from San German rejoins us from the left. This is the end of the San German bypass.

156.4 Miles (252.3 Km) -- Pemex with no number on the left.

161.9 Miles (261.1 Km) -- Km 254 marker.

162.1 Miles (261.5 Km) -- Cutoff to Valle Hermosa (Hwy 99) to the left. This is the route to the Puente Internacional Libre Comercio crossing into the states. We want to try it out so we go left here.

    The new road is not as terrific as the one we've been on from Ciudad Victoria but it is still excellent.

064.0 Miles (103.2 Km) -- Km 21 marker.

071.0 Miles (114.5 Km) -- Aduana (Customs) checkpoint.

075.4 Miles (121.6 Km) -- Enter the town of Valle Hermosa. The road is plenty wide and not congested. This town has several banks in case you happen to be following this log backwards and need some Mexican currency.

077.0 Miles (124.2 Km) -- Intersection. Empalme and Puente Internacional Libre are straight ahead, Matamoros is right, Rio Bravo is left. We go straight.

077.1 Miles (124.4 Km) -- Pemex #2128A is on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. It has decent but not great access.

078.8 Miles (127.1 Km) -- Leaving the town of Valle Hermosa.

079.7 Miles (128.5 Km) -- Km 3 marker.

082.7 Miles (133.4 Km) -- The highway makes a 90-degree turn to the right, there are no other choices.

085.7 Miles (138.2 Km) -- Matamoros cutoff to the right. We don't take it.

    Pemex #5263 with magna and diesel on the right just after the cutoff.

093.0 Miles (150.0 Km) -- Empalme and Reynosa cutoff to the left, we don't take it.

095.6 Miles (154.2 Km) -- Merge at Km 36 with road from left, this is Mex 2 joining us.

096.1 Miles (155.0 Km) -- Km 35 marker on Mex 2.

097.7 Miles (157.6 Km) -- Pemex #2070 on the left with magna and diesel. It's very small but access is OK.

101.4 Miles (163.5 Km) -- Cutoff to Matamoros Libre on the right. This is Mex 2 going east. We do not take the cutoff.

101.5 Miles (163.7 Km) -- Reynosa Cuota cutoff to the right. We don't take it. Puente Internacional is signed straight ahead.

101.8 Miles (164.2 Km) -- Sign says Puente Internacional straight ahead.

103.1 Miles (166.3 Km) -- Km 3 marker.

103.4 Miles (166.8 Km) -- Toll booth. Rates: autos - 15 pesos, two and three axles - 36 pesos, 4 and 5 axles - 77 pesos.

103.9 Miles (167.6 Km) -- Bridge at border.

104.5 Miles (168.5 Km) -- U.S. border station. Quiet with lots of room. Seems an excellent place to cross, only four vehicles in line.
