000.0 -- At the junction of Mex 307 from Cancún and Mex 186 to Escárcega. We will be heading west toward Escárcega. This junction is some 9 miles west of central Chetumal.
A sign says Villahermosa 552 Km, Campeche 386 Km. The road is very good with wide shoulders, it has been recently upgraded for the first 46 miles of this drive.
000.2 Miles (000.3 Km) -- Km 253 marker. This is the distance to Escárcega.
004.1 Miles (006.6 Km) -- Cutoff to the left for La Union and Ingenio A. Obregon.
004.4 Miles (007.1 Km) -- Pemex #3426 on the left with magna, premium, and diesel. No truck parking.
014.7 Miles (023.7 Km) -- Sugarcane fields on both sides of the highway.
013.7 Miles (022.1 Km) -- Through town of Gonzales Ortega, two topes.
019.2 Miles (031.0 Km) -- Through town of Nachi-Cocom
023.8 Miles (038.4 Km) -- Cutoff right to town of Morocoy and ruins of Dzibanché and Knichná.
025.0 Miles (040.2 Km) -- Enter town of Francisco Villa.
025.1 Miles (040.5 Km) -- Cutoff left to Kohunlich Ruins.
025.9 Miles (041.8 Km) -- Leaving Francisco Villa.
031.3 Miles (050.5 Km) -- Through town of Nicolás Bravo.
038.4 Miles (061.9 Km) -- Puente Sorpresas, they're working on it and we have to take a detour over a smaller bridge.
046.0 Miles (074.2 Km) -- End of the nice road, now we're back to a paved two-lane road with no shoulders. Widening work appears to be progressing westward.
049.2 Miles (079.4 Km) -- Through town of La Moza.
056.4 Miles (091.0 Km) -- Cutoff left to Rio Bec.
059.0 Miles (095.2 Km) -- Pemex #2497 on right with magna, premium, and diesel. Good access for big rigs but very little room for truck parking.
061.3 Miles (098.9 Km) -- Enter the town of Xpujil. The road becomes a divided boulevard.
062.9 Miles (101.5 Km) -- Cutoff right for aeropuerto and Xpujil Ruins.
063.3 Miles (102.1 Km) -- Divided boulevard ends and we leave town.
066.9 Miles (107.9 Km) -- Pass through town of Becan with Becan Ruins.
068.4 Miles (110.3 Km) -- Chacana Ruins to left.
097.4 Miles (157.1 Km) -- Cutoff left to Calakmul Ruins.

157.5 Miles (254.0 Km) -- Level crossing of railroad tracks.
158.4 Miles (255.5 Km) -- Road comes to a T. To the right is Champotón, to the left Villahermosa. We turn left.
158.5 Miles (255.6 Km) -- Pemex #0375 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. If you buy gas here watch out, the station has a bad reputation. It is large with good access, there is a little truck parking.
159.5 Miles (257.3 Km) -- Leaving Escárcega.
161.3 Miles (260.2 Km) -- Pemex #5894 on the right with magna, premium, and diesel. This is a large new station with lots of truck parking. Watch these attendants too if you stop to buy gas.
174.1 Miles (280.8 Km) -- Cutoff right to Ciudad Del Carmen (Hwy 259). We turn right.
The new highway is not as heavily traveled as the one we just left, it is a paved two-lane road with no shoulders.
174.8 Miles (281.9 Km) -- Km 1 marker.
191.6 Miles (309.0 Km) -- Through town of Chekubul.
208.0 Miles (335.5 Km) -- Entering the town of Sabancuy.
208.1 Miles (335.6 Km) -- Pemex #3801 on the left with magna and diesel. It is small with OK access.
A road goes right here, stay on the main road. We pass through an area with sidewalks, the route is not crowded or tight.
208.5 Miles (336.3 Km) -- Road comes to a Y, go left.
208.6 Miles (336.5 Km) -- We cross a causeway across an estuary as we leave town. The causeway is .8 mile long.
018.9 Miles (-030.4 Km) -- Road comes to a T. Campeche to the right, Ciudad Del Carmen to the left. We turn left.
210.6 Miles (339.7 Km) -- Km 77 marker. The markers are counting down to Ciudad Del Carmen. The ocean is on our right.
234.4 Miles (378.1 Km) -- Road comes to a Y. Left enters the small fishing town of Isla Aguada, right goes on toward Ciudad del Carmen. We go right.
