Balmacara

The small town of Balmacara, formerly a large estate, makes an excellent base for exploring the Isle of Skye. The new bridge makes access to the island very easy. There's a nice smaller private campground as well as a government forest campground which even has a few electrical hookups.

A scenic view of an old bridge on the road from Fort William to Balmacara and the Isle of Skye. This is what much of the countryside in Scotland looks like. You quickly come to understand how the yellow Scotch broom was named.
