Tours
There are lots of ways to see London - there are walking tours, bus tours, and boat tours. After a full day of doing it on our own - walking, reading our guidebooks, and finding all the sights, we decided the following day to take a bus tour to discover what we'd missed. Several companies offer these tours. It was conducted on board a double-decker open air bus with a tour guide. The ticket gave us all-day access to all of the buses run by this company on the same route. We could get on and off at any location and catch the next bus, which usually came along in a few minutes. These open-air bus tours are common in most of England's tourist-oriented towns. They're a great way to get oriented. In London, an boat trip along the Thames is included in the price of the tour ticket. This is an especially interesting portion of the tour because many of London's best tourist sights are located along the shores of the Thames.
We were the first to board the bus and had our choice of seats. The empty bus didn't last long, as soon as we moved it began filling up.
The picture on the right is the London Eye Ferris wheel which was erected to celebrate the turn of the century. The wheel is so big and moves so slowly that when we first saw it we thought it wasn't running. It takes about an hour to go all the way around. This picture was taken from the tour boat.
