Public Transportation
We leave the RV in the campground and use London's excellent public transportation for trips into and around town. There are many choices - there's the famous double-deck red buses, the train, the "tube" (subway), taxis, and even water taxis for traveling along the Thames.
This is a red double-deck bus. They're everywhere. Tickets can usually be purchased on-board. Day tickets which allow getting on and off the bus for one day at one price are also available. These tickets are not offered on the bus, but are sold at many convenient locations. For some routes, the price of two one-way fares is as much as a full day's pass. From the Crystal Palace campground to the center of the city the price was 1 pound each direction or 2 pounds for a full day ticket.
Everyone has heard of London's Victoria Station. In addition to being the place where many of the train and tube lines make connections, the station is also a tourist attraction in itself.
