Mushroom Tour
The owner of Domain
Du Clos St Maur was an exceptionally friendly, warm and generous French man.
On the highway near Le Puy he spotted us looking for his vineyard and stopped
to welcome us and give directions. The vineyard also is a major grower of
mushrooms in caves. The owner led us
on a tour of the Mushroom Museum located in a cave under our camping area.
A French couple accompany us on the tour so the owner gives the tour in both English and French. He explains to Mike that the guide book he'll allow us to use gives more information in English and will be helpful later on the part of the tour which is self-guided.
Terri looks on as we see the beds the mushrooms are grown in and learn more about their growth and harvest.
The last half of the tour is self-guided and we see displays showing the earlier use of caves as cave dwellings.
