Montreau Bellay
Montreau Bellay is
one of the Loire's old walled cities. The town perches on a rocky hill
overlooking a tributary of the Loire River. There is a municipal campground
below the walls, in fact, the campground sits just next to the lot we're
parked at in the picture below.
This lot is an camping area for motorhomes provided by the municipality of Montreau Bellay. It has several electrical hookups, bathrooms with no showers, water, and a dump station. As seen in this picture there's a beautiful view of the old chateau. The river runs along the back side and across from the river is park. This area is for self- contained motorhomes only - no caravans allowed. The price for the night was free.
These steps lead up through the walls of the city from the camping area below. Here we're on our way into town for a fresh baguette for breakfast.
