Domaine Du Clos St Maur

As mentioned on the Montreau Bellay page, many places in France, including some of the country's wineries, provide inexpensive or free overnight parking for motorhomes. We spent an especially fun evening at Domaine Du Clos St Maur, a combination winery and mushroom farm in the small village of Le Puy. Camping was free and a bathroom with a hot shower built especially for campers was included in the price. This is a convenient way to visit the superb French wineries and enjoy the tasting without the worry of driving afterwards.

We had great fun tasting the wine made at Domain Du Clos St Maur. There were seven large barrels, four of which are visible in the picture on the right. Each barrel contained a different style of wine - we tried a glass of each. Here our host fills our glasses directly from the spigot of the barrel and we all enjoy a glass of wine together.
