Chinon Campground
Many of the campgrounds in the Loire have terrific views, as does this municipal campground in Chinon. From the campground it's just a five minute stroll across the river into the historic town of Chinon. The castle looks over the town from the top of the hill. In addition to a castle famous as the location where Joan of Arc was presented to Charles VII, the town has lots of good restaurants, hiking, shopping, and cave dwellings.
The first of these pictures is a view of the campground from the Chinon Castle. Julie and Volker's motorhome and ours are parked right along the river. The second is a view of the castle from the campground. In Europe a trailer like this is called a caravan and is a very common camping vehicle.
