Money
Our first stop in the airport was the ATM machine to stock up on Euros, the currency now used on most of continental Europe. One Euro at this date was the equivalent of $.88 US. ATM machines are now located all throughout Europe, usually even in smaller towns and villages. They're convenient, easy to use, and give a much better exchange rate than "change" booths or even banks.
Mike visits the ATM machine and walks away with crisp new Euro notes. Actual circulation of Euro currency only began in January 2002. It will be nice not to have to worry about currency every time we cross a border.
