Cambridge

Cambridge is England's second oldest university town, founded when a group of scholars broke away from Oxford back in 1209. There are numerous similarities to Oxford, including the structure of the university.  Like Oxford, many separate collages join together to form the larger Cambridge University. As with  most university towns the city revolves around student life and is, therefore, young and vibrant with lots of special activities typically going on at any time.

Punting as shown in the picture below is a popular pastime in the university towns of England. In Cambridge punting is conducted on what is known as "the backs" which is an area between the colleges and the banks of the Cam. There are wonderful views of the colleges from all along "the backs." Punting boats can be rented throughout the area on an hourly basis.

The above is King's College Chapel.  This chapel was built back in the 1400's, taking over 70 years to build. At the time it was built it was intended to be the most dominating feature of the city. There are great views of the chapel from "the backs" and the inside may also be visited for a fee at certain times every day.
