April 13 to April 19, 2009
April 14, 2009 - Parked at Guadalupe Mtns. National Park
Guadalupe Mountains National Park RV Camping
The RV camping area at Guadalupe Mtns. National Park is pretty simple, just a paved parking lot. The price is right, however. Just $8 a night and no park entrance fee is collected. The parking area is about a third full, this is a great time to visit this area and avoid the crowds.
McKittrick Canyon Trail in Guadalupe Mountains National Park
We hiked the McKittrick Canyon Trail today. This is a really easy trail, total in and out distance about 7 miles and little elevation change. McKittrick is famous for it's fall colors but it's pretty now too. Pictures below.
April 15, 2009 - Parked at Albuquerque Fairgrounds
Affinity's Good Sam National Rally
For the next few days we'll be at The Rally, the big Affinity Group RV show. We're settled in the vendor parking area. We have electrical hookups and lots of friends here. We always feel like we're traveling with the circus when we visit an RV show!
April 16, 2009 - Parked at Albuquerque Fairgrounds
We gave both an Alaska and a Mexico show today, and set up our booth between shows. That makes for a busy day. The books we ordered from our distributor were waiting at Fed Ex, that was a relief. The weather is cool, is Albuquerque in April going to turn out to be a mistake? Sonic burgers for dinner.
April 19, 2009 - Parked at Albuquerque Fairgrounds
The rally is almost over. It's been a busy week. In addition to Alaska and Mexico we did presentations about camping in the Southwest and Northwest. Tomorrow we do the Baja and wrap things up. Book sales were about the same as last year so we're happy. Doesn't look like RVing is dead to us, despite the recession and bankruptcies of so many manufacturers.
