Tecate Border Crossing - Page 26
December 13, 2005 Update - The Tecate border crossing
has changed. We have not visited it yet but we will before the end of the
winter season. For now this information is from others. The crossing is
now about 2 miles east of town. Signage is poor, you'll have to follow
other traffic. From the town square go east on the old Mex 2 to get there,
don't take the bypass. The US-side lanes for rigs heading into the US are
very tight for big rigs, there has apparently been a lot of damage to big
rigs trying to pass through it. For this reason, and because Tecate cops
have been hassling RVers, it seems that the Tijuana crossing at San Ysidro
is now the preferred route for folks returning from Baja with larger rigs.

(new!) site is now closed. I also rang and was told the same thing.
Editor's Note: We called too and were told that the resort
is being expanding and they needed the land for the expansion, the RV park
is indeed closed.

Park is closed for renovation. No date on reopening, just the entrance is
roped off and the place deserted with a "closed for renovation" posted.

The Tripui suffered a serious fire this year, it is not
expected to be open for the winter season of 2004-2005.
